Kirsten Dunst: 'I look like a moonface in red carpet photographs'

Kirsten Dunst has claimed that she never looks good in red carpet photographs. The Upside Down actress explained that paparazzi are rarely able to snap a flattering picture when she poses at film premieres and other glitzy galas. Dunst complained to Lucky : "I hate red carpet photographs! It's such flat lighting! They take away my cheekbones - I just become a moonface. "I hate those photos so much. I always look terrible. And they don't know angles on faces. There is no artistry to it. I hate them." Although she's frequently unsatisfied with how she appears in red carpet images, Dunst admitted that she has a few features that never fail to impress. "I like my legs. I like wearing short dresses and high heels," Dunst commented. "And I think I have good hair." Dunst, who made her screen debut aged 6, previously said that she is very proud of the film roles she's chosen over the course of her career. Upside Down , co-starring Dunst and

Kirsten Dunst puts on a sad face for 'Melancholia'

As Justine, the complicated young bride at the center of Lars von Trier's apocalyptic meditation on depression, "Melancholia," Kirsten Dunst is called upon to convey great depths of anguish with very little dialogue. But Dunst, 29, delivers such a nuanced, polished performance that it's easy to see Justine's grief living behind her eyes as the beautiful woman with the doomed future fumbles her way through her lavish nuptials, leaving a trail of fractured relationships in her wake. Just as the film was set to open in Los Angeles, Dunst, who took home the lead actress prize when "Melancholia" premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, sat down to discuss how she invested the character with her own experiences and those of the controversial Danish auteur, who's grappled with depression "all sensible people have," the filmmaker has said. Prior to "Melancholia," had you been interested in working with Lars von Trier? Those kinds o

It appears the golden-haired actress has a few interesting things to say about the state of her tresses and the wonders of a good spray tan. Known for her unique sense of style, Kirsten has gone through a lot of different looks ranging from ultra short crops, to bobs, to much longer lengths. After a lot of trial and error, Kirsten has come to prefer herself with long locks. "I think I have good hair," she shared with Lucky. As it grows out, she claims her face "already looks better." Her last significant chop was inspired by her boyfriend at the time who mentioned how great he thought she looked with short hair. What about color options? "I attract a different kind of boy when my hair's red," Kirsten confessed. "I get more quality men, like

Kirsten supports the success of other actresses in her age group too, as she enjoys friendly competition. [The Ides of March actress] Evan Rachel Wood and I both auditioned for [the 1994 film] Interview With the Vampire, she recalled. Its a big deal were both still successful. "Melancholia' no cause for joy in unrelenting downer from von Trier

Kirsten Dunst paints a maddening picture of a depressed person whose world is shattering around her in "Melancholia." As Justine, she takes a nap during her wedding reception and morosely soaks in a bathtub while the celebration goes on without her. Just as her new husband, Michael (Alexander Skarsgrd), is preparing for their wedding night, Justine wanders off to a nearby golf course to have sex with a random male guest. She tries to explain her psychological state: "I'm trudging through this gray woolly yarn. It's clinging to my legs. It's really heavy to drag along." Her mom, Gaby (Charlotte Rampling), a nasty piece of work, points out that she always did wobble. Justine's sister Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg), who speaks with a British accent and bears no resemblance to Justine, tries lamely to mollify her mother. But at times, she hates her. Who can blame her? "Is everyone in your family stark raving mad?" asks Claire's husband John

Kirsten Dunst's prize part in 'Melancholia'

By Steven ReaThe Philadelphia Inquirer TORONTO -- Kirsten Dunst has a confession to make. When Lars Von Trier contacted her -- first by email, then by Skype -- about a part in his new film, "Melancholia," she said yes, immediately. "But it was funny," Dunst recalls, "because when Lars offered me the movie, I wasn't completely sure which character he wanted me to play. There are two girls. And I was like, 'I'd love to do it! I'd love to do it!' "And I remember getting off the phone and thinking which one? Who am I? Justine or Claire?" Von Trier, it turns out, had Dunst in mind for Justine -- a bride who shows up late for her own wedding reception, and who wanders through the swank and cavernous halls of her family's mansion -- a castle, really -- in a state of benumbed calm. London, Nov 19 : Kirsten Dunst cant help searching for gossip about herself on the Internet, despite knowing it is a "very dangerous" habit. The 29-year-old actress started worrying about saucy pictures of herself surfacing online after she stripped off for full-frontal nude scenes in Lars Von Trier's drama 'Melancholia'. "I hadn't been that nude in a film before. It's nerve-wracking but at that point I knew everyone pretty well and it was a closed set" the Daily Express quoted her as saying. "Lars and I were making jokes to each other... It was cold, I was lying there. But I knew it was going to be pretty. Doing a Lars Von Trier film, you know you're going to be naked in one of the scenes, for sure... EW Movie Review: "Melancholia"

Image
By: Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly The end-of-the-world flick "Melancholia", starring actors Kirsten Dunst and Alexander Skaarsgard, opens in theatres this week. Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly magazine filed the following review. To view our videos, you need to enable JavaScript. Learn how . install Adobe Flash 9 or above. Install now . Then come back here and refresh the page. The director Lars von Trier has developed a sixth sense for making mediocre movies that are great conversation pieces. His latest, "Melancholia", has a terrific hook. Its not just a drama about the end of the world. Its quite literally Von Triers version of a 50s sci-fi movie -- When Worlds Collide done with hand-held visuals and a grandiose Wagner soundtrack. When you finally get to the climax, with a distant planet looming larger and larger as it gets ready to crash into earth, it has a certain suck-in-your-breath, art-house apocalypse quality. Kirsten Dunst Joins 'Red Light Winter,' Starring Mark Ruffalo and Billy Crudup

Image
Another in a great mass of "old friends reuniting" movies is underway, and this one has a cast that will thrill anyone who loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 's B-Story. Mark Ruffalo and Billy Crudup have been signed onto Red Light Winter for some time, and news is that Kirsten Dunst is joining the duo to star in the film. Red Light Winter is the story of two old friends (presumably Ruffalo and Crudup) who have chaotic run-in with an Amsterdam promstitude (presumably Dunst) after heading to the notorious Dutch capital attempting to reconnect and distance themselves from the miseries of their mid-thirties. It seems pretty indie, considering the plot, cast and source materiala play by Adam Rappwhich is to say that it sounds interesting and intropective. Plus, theexploration of Amsterdam in a way not entirely ensconced by goofy marijuana jokes is rare for Hollywood. We should be excited to see some of the darker, more severe and artistic vantage points of the

Kirsten Dunst Joining Mark Ruffalo and Billy Crudup in Red Light Winter

Image
Posted on Thursday, November 17th, 2011 by Russ Fischer This past spring Mark Ruffalo said that he was looking at a role in Red Light Winter , a film based on the play of the same name by Adam Rapp ( The L Word , Winter Passing ), and a movie that would be brought into the world by Scott Rudin , the producer whose taste tends more genuinely toward the literary than almost anyone else working in the US right now. Ruffalo told The Playlist its the story of a writer and his best friend, and a kind of crazy love triangle they get into, and more specifically the play is about two thirty-something friends who fall for the same prostitute in Amsterdam. Ruffalo and Billy Crudup play the friends, and now Kirsten Dunst will be their shared obsession. Speaking to Anne Thompson in a video interview, Dunst said, Its a play, its called Red Light Winter , and its with Mark Ruffalo and me and Billy Crudupand I get to play a prostitute, adding that last note with a wicked, strange grin. Kirsten Dunst Will Spend A 'Red Light Winter' With Mark Ruffalo & Billy Crudup

We have to admit, this is one of those projects we'd been hearing about for a while, and being an indie production, it's always hard to tell when these things will actually get off the ground. But when you have a guy like super producer Scott Rudin throwing his weight around, things get done and moreover, big names can come into play. During the spring, Mark Ruffalo confirmed with us that he was taking a hard look at " Red Light Winter " and now an actress who has been riding an incredible wave of buzz all year, confirms that he is aboard and that she is coming along as well In a recent interview with Thompson On Hollywood , Kirsten Dunst revealed she would be joining Ruffalo and Billy Crudup in the drama. Based on the play by Adam Rapp (a writer for " The L Word " and " In Treatment "; director of " Winter Passing "), the film centers on two thirty-something New Yorkers who go to Amsterdam to rekindle their friendship and get away f
