Kirsten Dunst Approves of The Amazing Spider-Man

It's been four short years sinceKirsten Dunst last appeared inSpider-Man 3, ending her role as the superhero's longtime love interest Mary Jane Watson.

Though the 29-year-old actress won't appear in 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man (starringAndrew Garfield and EmmaStone), Dunst tells MovieFoneshe believes fans will always hold the trilogy with TobeyMaguire in high regard.

"I feel what we did was special and I don't think that goes away," Dunst explains. "There's a new generation of kids that will watch these and this will be theirs. These are the people they'll identify with as Spider-Man."

Dunst, who first played the comic book character in 2002, said she has high hopes for real-life loves and costars Garfield, 28, and Stone, 23.

"I do like those two," she tells MovieFone. "And I do think they're going to be good together."

The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters on July 3, 2012.
