Film trailer: 'Upside Down' with Kirsten Dunst

The first trailer for the sci-fi romantic thriller Upside Down starring Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia) and Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe) was released online January 2 in French via Canal+.

The story follows star-crossed lovers living in two worlds -- an affluent one above the other and each place with its own gravitation pull. Though it is not allowed for anyone to cross over to the other world, this film finds the characters falling in love and breaking the rule.

The footage shows Adam flipping over to the forbidden world from below to connect with Eve, the girl in the inverted world, where he must escape the authorities.

The special effects show almost identical worlds with complete cities, buildings, forests, and oceans, with the characters slipping back and forth, defying gravity.

The film is directed and written by Argentinian filmmaker Juan Diego Solanas.

The release dates for 2012 are forthcoming.
